Hospital Description:
West Branch Regional Medical Center is an 88-bed facility with service to a population of 22,465 residents in the surrounding area. While considered a rural hospital by most standards, this new state-of-the-art, acute care medical facility is located on 44 acres of rolling countryside.

The Emergency Department sees over 15,500 visits annually. The daily census is between 35 and 40 patients. There are 11 patient treatment areas with two designated acute medical/trauma beds, advanced cardiac monitoring capabilities, a formal triage area, an increased patient/family waiting area, a decontamination unit, and an in-department x-ray unit. The new department also has an isolation unit and several private treatment areas to provide patient privacy. A separate entrance was created for our ambulatory emergency and urgent care patients, and a convenient ambulance entrance will allow ambulance patients quick access into the emergency department. The volume can be expected to increase during the summer months.

Location Description:
The West Branch area has a population of 2,285 residents and offers the better of two worlds. It is a resort area endowed with natural beauty and endless opportunities for four-season outdoor recreation. But it is also a thriving, growing business and industrial community located on Interstate 75 approximately 100 miles northeast of Flint. West Branch and Ogemaw County are known as the all year sportsmens paradise. There are many miles of lakes and streams within the county that are well known for duck hunting, fishing, and boating. The great expanse of forest abounds in deer, rabbit, ruffed grouse, fox, and wildcat. Canoeing, cross-country skiing, and snowmobiling are also main attractions in this area.

Qualifications:
Board-eligible or board-certified in a Primary Care specialty with extensive Emergency Medicine experience. Emergency Medicine or Primary Care Residents can moonlight during their PGY III.
