Come, enjoy a visit to Kansas at the turn-of-the-century (1900, that is) and still have the conveniences of the 21st Century. Relax in a place where yesterday meets tomorrow. As you stroll the historic Park Square you'll see buildings constructed in the 1850's, 1870's and 1880's. These buildings tell of an earlier time and a slower way of life. However, step into these buildings and you will find many opportunities for antique, gift and specialty shopping with modern conveniences.

The community is growing but still has the pace of an earlier time; a time to meet neighbors, a visitor, or just to enjoy the day. Take your time to step back into yesterday. Relax with a few nights in a Bed and Breakfast, eat a pork tenderloin the size of second base or try the variety of Chinese, German, Italian or Mexican cuisine. We also have western barbecue and fast-food restaurants for casual meals.

At the nearby lakes, enjoy camping, swimming, water-skiing, boating sailing, canoeing, windsailing, surf boarding, fishing, picnicking or just relaxing. One lake also offers a volleyball area in its 725 acre park. The other is a favorite for fisherman and hunters.

There are leagues for all ages in most team sports. The new Family Aquatic Center is a great addition to the recreational mix. There are four golf courses in the county. Tour the County Courthouse, listed in the National Registry of Historic places and built in the 1890s. Tour the convent, gardens, grotto, and cemetery, established in the 1890s. Shop for specialty items, antiques, and collectibles in the historic district. Take a horse drawn carriage or trolley ride and drive by the many Victorian homes. Visit the River Museum, home of a Genealogical Library and the County Historical Society.

In all, there are over twenty multi-purpose colleges and universities within thirty (30) minutes of the county.

Sorry, this is NOT an opportunity for Search Firm recruiters. Thank you.
