Hospital Description:
St. Vincent Clay Hospital, formerly known as Clay County Hospital, opened in 1928 and is considered a historical landmark. This is a 58-bed facility which has a total of 8 beds in the emergency department. There are private rooms as well as curtained bays that are used for observation, as well as a large trauma room that can be divided into two separate rooms.

The Emergency Department sees approximately 10,000 patients annually with the physicians primarily working 12- and 24-hour shifts. Physicians are required to write their own orders for admitting patients. Trauma is low at about 10% and pediatric cases are at about 25%. Approximately 13% of all patients seen in the ED are admitted. Difficult trauma cases are either life-lined or transported to larger facilities that are better equipped for this type of trauma.

Location Description:
Brazil is located on US Highway 40 approximately 50 miles west of Indianapolis and 15 miles east of Terre Haute, Indiana. Clay County is about 350 square miles with a service population of 25,000. Clay County is an excellent place to enjoy indoor and outdoor activities. There are several municipal parks with playgrounds and picnic areas scattered throughout the county. Forest Park is home to an 18-hole golf course, swimming pools, auditorium, band shell, go-cart track, softball field, and lighted tennis courts. There are also numerous hunting and fishing areas around the county. Indiana State University in Terre Haute has various university- sponsored cultural events.

Qualifications:
Board-eligible or board-certified in a Primary Care specialty with Emergency Medicine experience.
