Hospital Description:
Compassion and human touch of more than a century of caring, with the most modern technologies is the approach to healthcare for which St. Anthonys Memorial Hospital is known. This not-for-profit hospital was originally founded in 1875 and has 146 licensed beds and a workforce of 675 employees. The medical staff at St. Anthonys represents 68 local specialists and 57 consulting physicians.

The Emergency Department sees approximately 24,000 patients annually. This U-shaped department has 11 rooms with 17 beds, including trauma rooms with breakaway glass, OB/GYN, exam, and observation. Nurses can see almost all rooms and utilize central monitors with privacy covers and can read x-rays behind the desks. There is double physician coverage twelve hours daily. Patients are approximately 65% to 75% medicine, 15% to 20% pediatrics, and 15% to 20% minor/major trauma with admissions from the Emergency Department accounting for 20% of hospital admissions. Physicians are responsible for writing their own orders for admitting patients. The emergency physicians must respond to all hospital codes.

Location Description:
Located in the south-central portion of Illinois, Effingham County has 32,000 residents whose economy is driven by service, transportation, and manufacturing industries, as well as agriculture. In the summer of 2003, residents of Effingham celebrated their sesquicentennial. Qualifications:
All interested candidates must be board-eligible or certified in Emergency Medicine or certified in a Primary Care with EM experience.
