Hospital Description:
Southern Illinois Healthcare is a not-for-profit healthcare system with three hospitals, several satellite facilities, over 2,000 employees and physicians. St. Joseph Memorial Hospital originally opened in 1897 as St. Andrews Hospital and was purchased by SIH in 1995 from ASC Health System. This 49-bed facility was recently expanded and added new outpatient rooms. The Emergency Department at St. Joseph Memorial Hospital sees over 8,600 patients annually. This 6-bed department has a less than 3% admission rate. Physicians are able to work 12- or 24-hour shifts at this facility and have an excellent, highly- skilled nursing staff for support.

Location Description:
Murphysboro, Illinois, has over 11,000 residents and is located in Jackson County in southern Illinois. Murphysboro is home to one of the most beautiful lakes in southern Illinois - Lake Kinkaid. With more than 82 miles of shoreline, it offers great fishing and even better boating with more than 170 boat slips at the local marina. The home of The Little Grand Canyon, which has slopes up to 80%, hikers enjoy the challenging trails, stunning waterfalls, and expansive views. Qualifications:
Candidates must be residency-trained, board-eligible or board-certified in Emergency Medicine or a Primary Care specialty with extensive Emergency Medicine experience.
