Psychiatrist - (Psych) Locum Tenens
StartDate: ASAP Available Shifts: 8 Hour/Day Pay Rate: $140.00 - 155.00

This large medical center in Maine is looking for full time psychiatry coverage starting as soon as possible until end of August. This medical center is located in Northern Maine. The opportunity is mostly for the outpatient setting, with possibility of covering the in-patient unit as the patient census can flux. The mental health physician will be responsible for adult patients with a variety of mental health issues, and will be conduct initial evaluation. The state of the art facility has 1 psychiatrist and 1 psychiatric nurse practitioner on staff for assistance, as well as a full clinical staff for support. The practitioner will have Call responsibilities 2 weekends per month, and 2 nights per week. Please contact Staff Care for more information.

A psychiatrist (locum tenens) is a mental health professional, who focuses on preventing, diagnosing, and treating mental illness. After completing medical school, a psychiatrist must also complete a one year internship and three additional years of specialized training as a psychiatric resident. In the treatment of mental illness, a psychiatrist is licensed to prescribe medication. Some conditions requiring medication include; depression, anxiety, bipolar disorder, and ADHD. A psychiatrist evaluates patients with mental illness and, in cases where medication is subscribed, often practices medication management.
