The Nevada Bureau of Disability Adjudication (BDA) evaluates applications from individuals with permanent disabilities to determine if they are eligible for federal Supplemental Security Income (SSI) or Social Security Disability Insurance (SSDI). Working as an adjudicative team member, the primary role of the Medical Consultant is to review all the relevant evidence in the case record to determine its adequacy for making disability decisions and evaluates the medical issues making the medical determination on disability applications in accordance with Social Security Administration (SSA) rules, regulations, and procedures. Based on this evaluation, the Medical Consultant assesses the severity of impairments and describes the functional limitations imposed by impairments.
- Requires completion of residency, unrestricted Nevada Medical License, current CME and clinical experience
- Initially train in the Las Vegas or Carson City BDA Offices with possible remote work option
- Schedule a min. of 20 hours per week, with some flexibility
- Various specialties considered
- Basic computer skills needed
