Immediate need for a permanent, full-time emergency medicine physician in metro Tennessee. Join a collegial, 12-member ER department and work 40 12-hour shifts per quarter for a competitive annual salary. Opportunity for extra quarterly shifts at an hourly rate. Great benefits package as well as annual bonus potential. Part of a university-based hospital system but no teaching requirements, at least initially, as there is not yet a local EM residency training program. But there will be in the next 1-3 years, so if having a loose academic affiliation with the potential for research appeals to you this could be a great opportunity. No research required and future teaching will be minimal and only if desired. The hospital serves as one of the largest medical and surgical teaching sites in the country. More than half the doctors in the state receive all or some of their training here through its affiliation with the University. However, this is primarily a clinical position and it is a private group.
You'll work in a very well-equipped level one trauma center of nearly 400 beds with sub-specialists in-house or on call 24/7. From the highly specialized care provided in the event of an emergency to the quality care provided for elective procedures and inpatient stays during illness, the well-trained staff of anesthesiologists, trauma surgeons, orthopedic surgeons and other specialists are there to meet all healthcare needs. It's one of the largest trauma centers in the southeast serving more than 180 counties and nearly 100,000 patients from several states. They have more than 40,000 annual ER visits. Strong preference for EM-residency trained candidates but may consider others with good experience. Ties to Tennessee or desire to be in this part of the country is preferred as they are hoping for a very long-term association.
Other benefits include: excellent malpractice, health insurance for you and your family, a moving allowance and disability insurance. As well, there are contributions to an IRA in addition (not deducted) from salary and both long and short-term disability policies for any unexpected injury or illness.
