San Antonio is the seventh largest city in America, with a population of 1,144,646, but it’s still a far cry from what we think of as a big city like New York or Los Angeles – this historical Texas city manages to feel busy without feeling crowded and offers all your necessities at your fingertips.

The San Antonio Paseo del Rio, or River Walk, is one of the country's most famous and picturesque walks. The paths and stairways, made of cobblestone, were built in the 1930s as a federal project during the Depression years. The River Walk features some of the city's best shops, cafes and entertainment.

When you find yourself wanting to return to nature, the Texas Hill Country goes wildflower crazy in the spring—and the beauty is easy to see along roadsides or in San Antonio’s many parks. San Antonio’s largest public park, Brackenridge Park, has served the city for over a hundred years and now spans nearly 350 acres that are packed with outdoor activities. The park features trail for walking and biking, a golf course, fishing at the San Antonio River, a miniature train to ride, playgrounds, picnic areas, and the San Antonio Zoo. Whatever kind of activity you’re looking for; Brackenridge is probably the place to find it.

If you’re not convinced you want to spend the day in the Hill Country, remember that San Antonio is home to 35 wineries, many within easy driving distance of San Antonio—and all a lot closer than Napa Valley.

Fans of live performance will be delighted by the rich music and dance culture to be seen here. Whether you prefer ballerinas and symphonies or mariachis and cultural dances from varieties of peoples, there’s beautiful movement in San Antonio.  Our parades are some of the biggest and most unique of their kind in the entire country. San Antonio has been ranked by Conde Nast Traveler as the #2 U.S. travel destination, and the #9 worldwide destination. It has been called "every Texan's favorite city," and Will Rogers dubbed San Antonio as "one of four unique cities in America."
