Academy Launches Web-based International Update Newsletter

The AAFP's Center for International Health Initiatives has launched a Web-based newsletter -- International Update -- for family physicians, faculty members, family medicine residents and medical students to share their global medicine experiences, projects and interests.

AAFP member Harold Williamson Jr., M.D., has been named interim vice chancellor for health sciences at the University of Missouri-Columbia. He will begin his new duties Sept. 8 and will serve while a national search is conducted for a permanent vice chancellor. Williamson currently is professor and Jack and Winifred Colwill Endowed Chair of Family and Community Medicine at the university.
New AAFP Web Site Encourages Patients to Advocate Family Medicine's Issues

The AAFP has launched a new Web site aimed at educating patients about family physician issues and encouraging them to join with their family physicians in advocating those issues with state and federal legislators.

The Academy and its sister organization, the Society of Teachers of Family Medicine, or STFM, have for many years celebrated the contributions of AAFP members and others involved in providing high-quality primary care, recognizing their accomplishments with a number of awards. Aug. 1 marks the application deadline for three such awards.
AAFP News Now Goes Completely Electronic

The AAFP has made its news vehicle to members -- AAFP News Now -- a completely electronic product by transitioning the print version of the publication into a PDF version that members can access each month beginning in September.
